橫貫加拿大和(he)美國的(de)管(guan)道(dao)已發(fa)生(sheng)多起(qi)嚴重的(de)斷(duan)面破(po)(po)裂(lie)事(shi)(shi)故(gu)(gu)，這(zhe)些事(shi)(shi)故(gu)(gu)已經危及管(guan)道(dao)的(de)安全問(wen)題。僅在(zai)加拿大阿爾伯達(da)省(sheng)發(fa)生(sheng)的(de)管(guan)道(dao)破(po)(po)裂(lie)事(shi)(shi)故(gu)(gu)每年就超過750起(qi)，給人類和(he)環境都造(zao)成了潛在(zai)的(de)危害。這(zhe)些管(guan)道(dao)破(po)(po)裂(lie)事(shi)(shi)故(gu)(gu)發(fa)生(sheng)的(de)原因(yin)主要歸于三(san)種：內(nei)腐(fu)蝕(shi)、外腐(fu)蝕(shi)和(he)第三(san)方破(po)(po)壞。在(zai)這(zhe)些管(guan)道(dao)破(po)(po)裂(lie)事(shi)(shi)故(gu)(gu)中，上游管(guan)道(dao)約占2/3，而且都發(fa)生(sheng)在(zai)阿爾伯達(da)省(sheng)內(nei)；而半(ban)數以上又歸因(yin)于內(nei)腐(fu)蝕(shi)。
